Goodbye, 2020,
Hello, 2021.
It’s been one hell of a year for some;
And others realised they are alive.
It forced us to get up and adapt:
Fight, stay alive, survive.
I am grateful that I am one of the lucky ones.
Who had someone dear by their side?
Who got in love more and more every day?
Who sat back and enjoyed the ride?
Who did something astonishing with their spare time?
Who learned a new habit?
Who got a chance to work out on themselves?
All of those were the lucky ones.
Because on the other side:
There are the ones who fought and died for their cause.
There are the ones who passed away.
There are the ones who lost their jobs, their loved ones and their home.
There are the ones who couldn’t bear to stay alive like this.
There are the ones who cried themselves to sleep.
And those who wished to never wake up.
We still have so, so much to do.
To get out of here.
This is a kindly remember, to be kind, and help the ones around.
Because in just a second, we can lose everything
And out there are worse things than not being alive.
Be nice to each other and reach out if you need help.
Goodbye, 2020,
Hello, 2021.
