S L
To Procrastinate means to keep delaying something that must be done, often because it is unpleasant or boring.
Cambridge Dictionary
I am the Procrastination-queen!
I can postpone my projects and tasks so much that usually, I have to do everything in a day or two right before the deadline and this didn’t bring me any benefits!
I am very creative at finding excuses for delaying the important tasks and I usually end on the sofa playing on my phone or scrolling for hours without any common sense!
However, the main reasons that many people identify with are:
- feeling lazy
- not being self-disciplined
- setting non-realistic goals
- rushing/superficiality in planning
- no planning at all
- unmotivated
- other excuses.
Being in this journey of loving myself and my body doesn’t mean only to accept my body as it is, but to destroy the unhealthy habits, and procrastination is one of them.
So here I am, with you as a witness ready to improve my life, and If what I am doing will help you as well, then so much more reasons to share my plans with you!
After some research on the internet, I found couple of websites that are advising how to get rid of procrastination.
I made a list of what I will try on, with the sources so that you can go and have a look for yourself, maybe something that I try it doesn’t work on you, and that it’s fine as well, as long as we are doing steps into… healing!
1. Create a routine.
Over the last couple of months, I heard so many people speaking about how important is to create a routine, it has been established a time-frame while you can set up a routine/new habit which is for at least two months.
So if I start with a routine for hours when I wake up and eat, I should get more disciplined and keep it for at least two months.
Two months doesn’t sound that bad, I think that I can do it.
2.To-do daily list
This I am already doing, I started setting daily tasks that cover posting on the blog, course work and time spent with my partner.
Although may seem boring to have a list for the main things in your life, only when you start getting a structure and organise everything around that structure you realise how much time you are waste daily.
3. Find the habits that are not healthy
Okay, so when I am doing a list of my habits, I can manage them and be more aware, plus is a great way to see the progress.
4.Self-reflection
They say that is important to be aware of your self, of your qualities and your weakness and to know your limits is important as well.
So we turn back to loving ourselves and being aware of who you are!
While researching, I found out a book that made me curious and I ordered it.
It’s called Atomic Habits and has been written by James Clear.
I invite you to have a look and see if will make you curious as well.
